Currently based in Norway, Ukranian pianist, conductor and improvisor, Yegor Shevtsov makes his Canadian debut at the nanoSTAGE. A distinguished international artist, Shevtsov has retained a penchant for contemporary piano music throughout his career and is a frequent commissioner. He is a key member of the Arctic Philharmonic and come to Canada to share some of his newest projects with Piano Luanire audiences. Born in Lviv, Ukraine, he has earned international acclaim for his superb musicianship.
Juno-nominated pianist Katherine Dowling makes her nanoSTAGE debut with a set of music for solo keyboard by Alice Ping Yee Ho, Reena Esmail and Isang Yun.
Jacob Clewell and Sasha Bult-Ito of the Ezra Duo, return to Piano Luanire's moon series in a set fetayring two Torotno composers a generation apart: Alexina Louie and Liam Ritz. The Ezras offer music for biolin and piano this time round: Ritz's Aka-tombo and Nocturne (a world premiere) complemented by Louie's Music for Piano.
Multi-faceted musician, Roan Ma, is passionate about creating space within the classical music world where diverse voices are represented. She has recently wrapped a season as Artistic Director with Toronto's Continuum Music. During the past several years, her work has focused on rediscovering music and musicians obscured by time and social constrictions, as well as introducing contemporary repertoire.

Making her nanoSTAGE debut, Jani Parsons has been raised for her “combination of tenderness and vivacious energy” (San Francisco Chronical) and “sheer virtuosity” (LA Splash),
Parons is an avid performer and supporter of living composers, having worked directly with Steve Reich, Christopher Cerrone, John Zorn, Stacy Garrop, Marc Mellits, Roshanne Etezady, Augusta Read Thomas, Jared Miller and Shulamit Ran and has premiered upwards of eighty new solo and chamber works. She brings the mighty Fantasy Pieces of Eugeen Astapov to the Lunaire stage.

For the quirkiest and enigmatic of full moons, Piano Lunaire welcomes Thomas Feng and Jennifer King to the nanoSTAGE. Each artist brings a unique set in honour of the Worm Moon, also called the "Crow Moon," the "Sap Moon / Sugar Moon" (Ojibwe), the "Sore Eyes Moon" (Dakota, Lakota, and Assiniboine),and The "Goose Moon / Eagle Moon" (Algonquin and Cree).

As a postlude to our SOMERS SONATA PENTAD (October 2026), Piano Lunaire concludes the Harry Somers centenary with lesser known and even unpublished piano music from the Canadian composer. The Four Solitudes of 1947 have never been performed nor recorded in the 21st century. Adam Sherkin takes up the challenge, also featuring music by two living Somers' devotees: biographer, distinguished composer Brian Cherney and conductor/producer/composer, Isaac Page.
The third concert of our sub-series "In Portrait," features two composers who have thrived and created in Toronto for most of their careers. Juliet Kiri Palmer and James Rolfe have lived and worked together in Toronto's west end since the 1990's. They bring their own distinctive approaches to writing for the piano: both influence and evident contrast is gleaned between the composers' catalogues.
Pianists Stephanie Chua and Adam Sherkin offer premieres of new compositions and reconsiderations of significant piano works from the late 20th century, centered around the idea of protest and activism. Both Palmer and Rolfe will be in attendance. Season.
For the final full moon of our season, acclaimed pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski makes his Toronto debut in a set that honours Pride Month, with his own celebrated and near-instant audience favourite, The Pride Suite. Soukhovetski's vibrant, dazzling brand of pianism is not to be missed!
The complimentary set of the evening features an equally moving and lyrical musicians, clarinetist Anthony Thompson who will perform this programme on bass clarinet, featuring the music of Eric Mandat, Kenji Bunch and Canada's own Linda Catlin Smith.
